Sailing Education Adventures’ Sail Camp is one of the best ways for children to learn to sail in The Bay Area. It offers intensive instruction on 12'- 14’ sailboats, as well as lessons on boat safety and seamanship.  And most importantly, Sail Camp fosters teamwork and individual self-confidence. All classes are taught by experienced instructors certified by the US. Sailing Association. ​

 SEA is a non-profit community sailing organization dedicated to providing affordable instruction in the art of sailing and encouraging care for the marine environment. Join us on the water for this exciting and educational sailing experience.

Mini Camps ​Introductory and Advanced

Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr,  Dock A next to Loch Lomond Yacht Club

Days: Monday - Friday, 1 week sessions

Ages: 8- 10

​Introductory Mini Camp

Price: $425 (scholarships available)

​Half-day (9 am- 12:30 pm) sessions introduce younger children to sailing. Light morning breezes give younger children an opportunity to start learning about wind, water, safety, and fun. Sail Camp Counselors provide direct instruction to students from within the boat while novice sailors gain confidence and develop skills during sailing times rotating through the different responsibilities of sailing (steering, controlling the sails, etc). Mini Camp utilizes our sloop-rigged, 16.5-foot Catalinas. ​ Ages 8-10. ​*

Advanced Mini Camp

Price: $550 (scholarships available)

Full day (9 am- 4 pm) For returning Mini Campers who have participated in Mini Camp in previous years but may still be too young to move into the full Basic/Intermediate Sail Camp sessions. Building upon students existing skills and confidence , students gain experience by sailing in the more challenging afternoon winds of this full day camp. Advanced Mini Camp prepares students for Basic Sail Camp by teaching students self-confidence and problem-solving skills while refining their sailing technique. Youths are taught in our sloop-rigged, 16.5-foot Catalinas by our experienced staff. ​ Ages 8-10.*



*Note: We cannot enroll 8-10 year olds in Basic / Intermediate camps. Children aged 10 who have completed one full week of Mini Camp are eligible to enroll in Basic/Intermediate camp at the discretion of the Head Counselor.

 

Basic/Intermediate Sail Camp

Location: Marin Yacht Club, 24 Summit Ave, San Rafael. Marin Yacht Club.

Days: Monday - Friday, 2-week sessions

Hours: 9 am- 4:00 pm

Ages: 11 - 16

​Price: $995 (scholarships available)

Basic introduces new sailors to boat handling and the principles of sailing. Intermediate campers who have mastered basic skills will be challenged with more skill-building in single-handing and responsibility by building leadership skills. The full-day sessions (Monday through Friday) concentrate on sailing, boating safety, and teamwork. Parents, campers, instructors, and friends will celebrate the end of Basic Sail Camp at a graduation BBQ held at Marin Yacht Club where certificates and awards will be presented.

 

Advanced Sail Camp

​Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr,  Dock A next to Loch Lomond Yacht Club

Days: Monday - Friday, 1 week session

Ages: 13 - 17

​​Price: $475 (scholarships available)

​Half-day (1-4pm) Advanced sailors looking for more intense sailing can sail our sloop-rigged RS Quests. Campers will be challenged by performance sailing, longer voyages, and an introduction to racing. Advanced campers are encouraged to come early to help with Mini Camp. Advanced students must be approved by the SEA Head Counselor or Director.

 

Youth Weekend Sailing

Weekend sailing is for youth sailors who have previously participated in the SEA Summer Sail Camp (Basic/Intermediate Camp or higher)

Spring Session #1

  • ​Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr, Dock A

  • Dates:  April 7, 14, 21, 28 (all Sundays)

  • Time: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Spring Session #2

  • ​Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr, Dock A

  • Dates:  May 5, 12, 19, 26 (all Sundays)

  • Time: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

 

Refund Policy

COVID-19 Policy- Cancellation due to a COVID-19 related reason will be fully refunded.
Should SEA need to cancel the camp session due to COVID-19, you will be offered a credit to be used for following season, or a full refund. 

Regular Policy- You may cancel your registration with our office. However, please be aware of our refund limits for our camps:

  • Cancellation before May 1, 100%

  • Cancellation before June 1, 50% or 30 days prior to first day of camp.

Missed Days

There can be no make ups for missed days. If you do need to skip a day due to illness or doctors appointment, please alert the Head Counselor at the beginning of the session and the day prior to the planned missed day.
