Sail Camp

Co-sponsored by Marin Yacht Club
Our 37th SEAson!

Sailing Education Adventures’ Sail Camp is one of the best ways for children to learn to sail in The Bay Area. It offers intensive instruction on 12'- 14’ sailboats, as well as lessons on boat safety and seamanship.  And most importantly, Sail Camp fosters teamwork and individual self- confidence. All classes are taught by experienced instructors certified by the US. Sailing Association.

SEA is a non-profit community sailing organization dedicated to providing affordable instruction in the art of sailing and encouraging the care for the marine environment. Join us on the water for this exciting and educational sailing experience.

In 1998, Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) and the Marin Yacht Club won the prestigious Nimitz Trophy in recognition of the quality of our youth program.

2021 Registration will open at 12:30 pm 1/29/21

Changes to Sail Camp Policy: Under new guidelines by Marin County Department of Health, we are allowed to operate our 2021 programs under certain restrictions. Assuming that 2021 camp season is still under restriction we are limited to the following guidelines"
- Camp sessions must be 3 weeks in length (we offer camp sessions monday- friday)
- Campers must commit to the full 3 week session (no camp hopping)
- Camp sessions must operate with groups of 12 participants and fewer.

We will be adjusting our daily operations to ensure safety of all participants, our students, their families, our staff and our general community. We will be happy to share our new measures with anyone interested to know what we are doing to reduce risk, please feel free to contact us with any questions.

If you have any questions regarding our process and our limitations, please feel free to contact our Program Director Meghan Hartnett via email at programdirector@sfsailing.org.

Mini Camp- Introductory

Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr, Dock A behind the new Andy's grocery store being built and next to Loch Lomond Yacht Club
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9 am- 12:30 pm
Dates: Mini Camp Session 1: June 14- July 2
Mini Camp Session 2: July 5- July 23
Ages: 8-10
Price: Intro- $675

About: One-week, half-day (9am- 1pm) sessions introduce younger children to sailing. Light morning breezes give younger children an opportunity to start learning about wind, water, safety and fun. Sail Camp Counselors sail in the boats with Mini Campers to directly teach sailing skills in small groups. Each student rotates through the different responsibilities of sailing (steering, controlling the sails etc) with direct assistance from the on-board Counselor. Youths are taught basic sailing skills in our sloop rigged, 16.5 foot Catalina Catalina's by our experienced staff.  Ages 8-10.

Note: We cannot enroll 8-10 year olds in Basic / Intermediate camps. Children aged 9-10 who have completed one full week of Mini Camp are eligible to enroll in Basic/Intermediate camp at the discretion of the Head Counselor.

Mini Camp- Advanced

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9 am- 4:00 pm

About: One-week, full day (9am- 4pm) session had been added this year for returning Mini Campers who have participated in Mini Camp either in prior years or earlier in the 2020 season but may still be too young to move into the full 2 week Basic/Intermediate Sail Camp sessions.  This Advanced Mini Camp will build on previous experience and allow campers to do more advanced sailing in the stronger afternoon winds. As opposed to Introductory Mini Camp, the goal will be to get students comfortable sailing on their own with counselor assistance from a safety boat close by thus teaching students self confidence and problem solving skills along with refining their sailing technique. Youths are taught in our sloop rigged, 16.5 foot Catalina Catalina's by our experienced staff.  Ages 8-10.
