We wish to thank Sally Lee Stewart, one of our latest adult students who was kind enough to write a wonderful letter which we submitted to Division of Boating and Waterways to aid our grant request for funding our upcoming season. Read her lovely letter below:
"I am 58 years old. Last summer I enrolled in a beginning sailing class with Sailing Education Adventures (SEA) and found the program, curriculum, instruction, and location all very satisfactory. The staff of instructors were able to support each individual according to their ability and previous experience. The dock, trawler and fleet, bay, were our classroom and the teachers always prepared for the days lesson. I have great memories of each class. I always went home exhausted and smiling. The fleet is impressive, as is the general resourcefulness of the program. My favorite aspect of this program is the philosophy of providing access to an ancient and important skill. There is nothing like sailing. It is a meeting point for self and nature, for wind and sail, hull and water, and of our ancestors and us. This type of experiential learning empowers an individual to be confident, autonomous, and to problem solve. You need to be alert and pay attention to the wind direction, to gusts as they appear on the surface of the bay, and to traffic. You need to be present and disciplined. The founder, and community of individuals who make this school possible deserve steady, solid support, for it would be a major loss for the bay area to lose this precious school. -Sally Lee Stewart SEA student Summer of 2018" Thank you Sally! It's because of students like you that we do what we do! We hope to welcome more students, both adult and youth, in the 2019 season!
