Instructor and Assistant Training

Once a year, all SEA Instructors and Assistants will complete a day of training in teaching techniques, safety boat driving, rescue procedure, safety procedures. Most of our instructors start out by assisting our Beginning and Intermediate classes.  when they are ready to become an instructor, certified by US Sailing Association, they will need to successfully complete the US Sailing Level 1 Small Boat instructor course.  Information on these courses is available at the US Sailing website. If you are interested how to become an Instructor or Assistant, please contact our office.

SEA's amazing instructor crew is 100% passionate, volunteer sailors with huge hearts.
They are graduates of SEA's wonderful classes and teaching methodology and participants in our community sailing programs. They volunteer because are passionate about sailing, and they learn most about sailing by teaching others the skill!
The best way to become a better sailor is to teach others. The Learn by Teaching Philosophy is a core part of SEA's programs. SEA structures its programs to promote mentoring opportunities so that its students are constantly learning and growing.
