Small Boat Beginning Sailing
SEA, a non-profit community boating organization, is offering adult sailing lessons off Dock A at the Loch Lomond Marina in San Rafael. Class size is limited to 6 students per class. An introduction to sailing small boats (the BEST way to learn to sail!) Small Boat Beginning Sailing is perfect for the novice sailor or someone with prior sailing experience who is looking to brush up on their skills. Students will learn to tack, jibe, sail on all points of sail, dock the boat, learn how to get into and out of "safety position" and into and out of "irons". Safety and self confidence are stressed. Class will cover basic knots, and rigging a simple small sailboat. The one the water time utilizes SEA’s 16.5’ Catalina keelboats. SEA instructors are certified through US Sailing. Small Boat Intermediate Sailing
Continuing the sailor's education adding theory, sailing a course, balancing the boat, true and apparent wind, dealing with heavy weather. This is where it will all 'come together!" Capsizing and scoop method of self rescue optional. Check here in 2021 for dates.
