  • Pack snacks with the student- including Mini Campers
  • Pack water in a re-usable container- NO PLASTIC WATER BOTTLES please!
  • STAY HYDRATED! No caffeinated drinks please, caffeine causes dehydration

Clothing
It is often cool in the morning and then hot but windy in the afternoons. Please dress your child in layers and bring the following:
  • SEA provides Coast Guard approved PFD’s
  • Wetsuit is recommended for BASIC/INTERMEDIATE CAMP ONLY- SEA has some on site but they may not fit your child (“shorty” wetsuits are recommended as the full body suits can be too hot in the summer sun). (Not required, wetsuits are only an option IF you choose).
  • Towel and plastic bag to store wet clothing (Also recommended that you keep towels in your car to cover your seats at the end of the day)
  • Comfortable, functional and appropriate bathing suit.
  • Waterproof shoes which are lightweight are best to wear in and around the boats, on docks, rocks, beaches etc. Sandals and flip-flops which do not stay on easily are not as useful and could easily get lost in the water.
  • Waterproof sunscreen- Keep spray sunscreen away from food/other students. - Counselors remind campers to apply sunscreen often throughout the day but it is the campers responsibility to do it.
  • Sunglasses and hat
  • Waterproof windbreaker
  • Full change of clothes: t-shirt, long-sleeve, shorts, pants, fleece sweater- avoid cotton and denim!
Sources for wetsuits
  • Sports Basement, San Francisco.
  • West Marine, Sausalito
  • Play-It-Again Sports, San Rafael , Big 5, Kmart, Target
  • Online- Craigslist or Amazon- use Amazon Smile to contribute to Sailing Education Adventures

Other Notes
  • Please leave all media devices at home (music, earphones, etc)
  • Cell phones should be put away and used only to contact parents when necessary. (If a camper is excessively using their device and ignores counselors requests to put it away, the device may be collected by the Head Counselor and returned at the end of the day).
  • Please bring completed Medical Forms to check in on the first day of camp at 8:45 am. This form is attached here for your convenience, please print and bring it.

Camp Rules
  • Please confine parents presence to the parking lot and the Jr. Dock area except during Graduation for Basic/Intermediate camp when we are permitted to use the patio at the clubhouse.
  • Parents are invited to stay and watch their camper get started in camp for a short period of time if you so desire, but in an effort to foster the students independence we request that parents vacate the premises by 10 am.
  • Restrooms are available to use for the campers. We expect that campers use the facilities as if they were guests at another person’s home.
  • Use of the showers is strictly prohibited. It is suggested that each camper bring a large towel as they can rinse off using the nearby hose.
  • Trash receptacles are located at the Jr. Dock. Camper lunch and snack should be well wrapped and stowed out of reach of birds.
  • Although we discourage sharing of lunches, please be mindful of other students potential allergies when packing items which may contain nuts.
