America’s Cup World Series Youth Day

On America’s Cup World Series Youth Day, youth of all ages are welcome to explore all that the America’s Cup in San Francisco has to offer. Everyone is invited to come down to Marina Green to watch the racing for the first time of AC45s on San Francisco Bay, see a high school sailing demonstration, check out all the America’s Cup Village has to offer, and meet one of the youngest ACWS skippers, 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist Nathan Outteridge, (plus surprise guest*) on land after racing!

Youth Sailors Meet Oracle Racing Print Email

"Man, that boat is BIG!" Jaws dropped when SEA's youth met the trimaran that Oracle won the America's Cup with two years ago. The 90-foot by 90-foot trimaran, USA 17, was powered by a 223-foot tall wing sail, the largest wing ever built. Seeing the wing laid horizontally inside Oracle's base at Pier 80 brought home the fact that these races involve incredible, cutting-edge technology. We were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the AC72 wing now being built in preparation for the Louis Vuitton Cup in 2013.
