SEA Sails 2012 - New Directions Print Email
Written by Johnpaul Watts

Want to sail Catalinas this season? Sail to the Farallon Islands in 2012? Then SEA has new news for YOU!

Two meetings were held last month, one in SF at UCSF Mission Bay and one at Sausalito’s fish Restaurant, to discuss a new ‘bottom-up’ direction for SEASails – i.e. all those sails that come free with membership in SEA: Catalina sails, family, keelboat, racing and adventure sails, even full moon sails. A goodly 25 or so members attended over a pint and niblets: they signed up to their Sails of Interest.

From hereon in,  members will form teams around their Sail(s) of Interest and help each other plan via email lists. They will schedule and help realize the SEA Sails program for 2012.
Please visit each area of interest below to get on the mailing list. You must be logged into the system to see the mail signup info.

So, now, how do you get involved and then enjoy those 11 free sails a month between April-October? Register on line for the sail(s) that most interests you: your team of similar interested sailors will get in touch and you can help make participation in one or more sails happen. For fully paid up members only!

Questions to Director or John Paul.

join_nowSailing Education Adventures (SEA) is the Bay Area’s premier Non-Profit community-sailing organization and has been delivering quality sailing education for over twenty five years.

We are more than a sailing school. We are engage our community to provide affordable, public access to sailing emphasizing mentoring as a way of learning. We stress safety at every level of our programs, and are committed to promoting the health and safety of our marine environment.

Low Cost Sailing

We not only offer adult and youth sailing lessons but we offer many opportunities for the public to sail for free or at little cost. There are weekly open sails, monthly workshops, adventure sails and event-based sails such as Fleet Week and Opening Day on the Bay.
Open Sails and Sailing Lessons are structured to be true joint ventures where all able crew on board are encouraged to take the helm with control and confidence. This is the perfect solution for people who like to sail but don’t want to own their own boat.

Low Overhead

SEA is a community based non-profit organization. With the exception of our Director and Youth Sailing Counselors, the entire organization is run by an extraordinary group of volunteers.

Membership

Joining SEA is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to regularly sail on the San Francisco Bay. As a non-profit organization, we try to keep our dues as affordable as possible by engaging our membership to volunteer and our community partners to help us with locations and learning opportunities
