Shockwave Flying? Print E-mail

santana 525 sailing classesShockwave does appear to be high in the sky when looking up at her on drydock. But, Tuesday night's SYC Beer Cans racing will be the true test now that SEA's Santana 525 got a nice bottom cleaning and painting this week at Spaulding Wooden Boat Center in Sausalito.

There is something humbling when you watch a boat get hoisted into the air and it towers above you on the docks. You see the full exposed body of what keeps you floating in the SF Bay Waters. You can admire the shape of its keel and be in awe of how that one "wing" can slice through water and keep you from rolling when you hit 30 knot winds!

So, question of the week - What type of keel does Shockwave have:

  1. Fin Keel
  2. Modified Fin Keel
  3. Bulb Keel
  4. Wing Keel

Don't know? Then it's time to quiz the skipper on a your next SEA Keelboat Sail!

Thanks to Sandor Schoichet, Karen Brenner and Mark Brown  for their early morning delivery and pickup of Shockwave to Spaulding this week. Thank you also goes out to Frank Lawler for ensuring the best bottom paint to keep Shockwave flying for a few years.

Also, a huge thank you to Spaulding Wooden Boat Center and their yard crew for the great work.
SEA really appreciates it!
