OYRA Jr. Waterhouse Ocean Race Print E-mail
Written by A.J. Busta

Sunday, October 3rd, SEA members Pat Broderick, Leah Pepe, Jennifer McKenna and AJ Busta participated in the OYRA Jr. Waterhouse Ocean Race in Pat's Wylicat 30.· This was the final OYRA race of the year.· It started at the SFYC, and went out around the Light Bucket, and finished at the Richmond YC. ·Everyone's prepared for 25+ miles of racing in the·Gulf of the Farallones but due to the low wind conditions, we sailed the shorter course.

We did not place 1st, 2nd or 3rd but had an enjoyable time anyway. The race was smooth with lots of seal and porpoise sightings. Many races were going on as we headed back through the Golden Gate Bridge to Raccoon Straits and on to the Richmond Yacht Club for our glorious finish. I highly recommend the Trader Joe's uncrystallized ginger chews for sea sickness. Oh, and Pat had some double ginger snap cookies that seemed to do the trick too!
