Courtesy of Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association Opening Day on the Bay, on the last Sunday in April, is the Northern Californian sailing season's official opening day. Dating back to 1917 and organised by the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association, any vessels can take part in the parade as long as they register beforehand. With a different theme picked each year, boats are encouraged to adorn their decks with appropriate decoration. The procession regularly features tug boats, clean-up boats and tour boats. All vessels are to proceed under power (including sailboats). Enter the Racoon Strait Restriced Zone at the Northeast end, taking Pt. Campbell (Angel Island) to PORT. Proceed on a southwesterly heading down Raccoon Strait, observing the 6-knot speed limit. (Caution: check the tides and currents). Pass between the Blessing Vessel and the Corinthian Yacht Club in Tiburon. At no time pass between the Blessing Vessel and Angel Island (Pt. Stuart). Exit the Racoon STrait Restriced Zone at the Southwest end.
