SYC Summer Series Final Print E-mail
Written by Helena Ghez
final race picIt's hard to believe that last night was the final race in the SYC Summer series!  Anne, Joe, Chris and I casted off the dock, amazed at the incredibly beautiful night with crystal clear skies and no fog (has our SF Summer finally arrived?).  Since the days are getting shorter, we had a S-W-F course that would only take us about an hour to complete.  Chris, our skipper of the night, had a perfect start, crossing the line just seconds into the race.  We were convinced that a few boats went over-early, but we're not going to protest (we'll play nice!).  While the Santana can't point that high like other boats on the Bay, we fell behind and came in last place.  But, we came in seconds after the 2nd to last boat!  Well - someone has to take up the back of the pack!  We all learn an amazing amount each time we're out there, and that's what counts.

Thanks to everyone who participated this year, including, Chris (skipper), Adam skipper, Karen, Anne, Joe, Bill, JP (and me, Helena).  And, of course, thanks to our Santanas - Heatwave and Shockwave.  Here's looking forward to the Winter Series!
