coastal cleanupSEA was one busy group over this fabulous weekend!

SEA folks, along with 80,000 volunteers up and down the California coast, cleaned the beaches, picking up fishing line, bottle caps, plastic bottles, coffee lids and cigarette butts - it's a pretty sobering scene when you spend three hours focused on collecting wayward trash!

Afterward we had a visiting one legged seagull offer a personal thank you - and nibble on homemade scones we also enjoyed. And, then we were off to one heck of a BBQ sponsored by The Sausalito Lions Club, Whole Foods and other local businesses.

SEA instructors had decided to look for wind. And, one report indicated they found nice 15 knot breezes for students to practice tacking and jibing.

Open Catalina Sails that evening turned into another wind-searching pursuit aboard Shockwave. One plump white moon rising over the East Bay Hills at least amazed the sailors who were bobbing about in the calm waters and air of The Bay. We still hope they had fun and learned something new!

And, finally, SEA made an appearance at Sailfest in Sausalito, a growing, fun festival, sponsored by Modern Sailing Academy. With music, food and a gathering of boat loving people, it's a must event to mark on your calendars for next year!
